How to Assign Tags (Purchases, Group Memberships, Products) to Users in Intercom

With Exercise.com’s marketing tools, you can assign tags like purchases, group memberships, and products to users in Intercom—similar to Mailchimp’s tagging system. This helps improve segmentation and communication. Follow the steps below to get started.

1. Click Sign Up

Click the “Sign Up” button to begin creating an account.

2. Complete Required Fields

Complete all required fields, then click the “Sign Up” button to finish registration.

3. Log in to Intercom

Log in to Intercom, then use the search bar to find and select the client who has opted in.

4. View Tags in Intercom

Click “See 2 more” to expand additional user information and view available tags.

5. Confirm the “Opted In” Tag

You can now see the “Opted In” tag applied at sign-up.

6. Navigate to Accounts and Add New Client

Click “Add New Client” to create a new client profile in the system.

7. Complete Required Fields Save

Complete all required fields, then click the “Save” button.

8. Return to Intercom and select the client.

Go back to Intercom, then search for and select the client you added.

Click “See 2 more” to expand additional user information and view updated tags.

10. Confirm Opted Out Tag

You can now see the “Opted Out” tag applied.

11. View All User Tags in Intercom

Go to Intercom and view all user tags, including purchases, group memberships, packages, or products. Tags update automatically based on user activity. You can also remove tags by issuing a refund or manually deleting them.
